Overview: Hahira City Schools is excited to announce an opening for a Special Education Teacher. We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual to join our team, dedicated to supporting students with special needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), providing specialized instruction, and working closely with other educators, parents, and support staff to ensure the success and well-being of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and regularly update IEPs tailored to the specific needs of each student.
Deliver specialized instruction in inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, and self-contained settings.
Modify curriculum materials and instructional methods to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with general education teachers, school administrators, and special education staff to promote student inclusion and achievement.
Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
Keep accurate and confidential records of student performance, IEPs, and other relevant documentation.
Engage in professional development activities to stay current with best practices and advancements in special education.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
Valid Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education (P-12) [T-4] or higher.
Experience working with students with a range of disabilities, including learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and developmental delays.
Strong skills in developing and implementing IEPs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Dedication to ongoing professional growth and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
Additional certifications or endorsements in areas such as Autism or Behavior Intervention.
Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification in Special Education General Curriculum (P-12) or a related field.
Passing scores on the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) exams for Special Education.
Completion of a state-approved educator preparation program.
Clear background check and fingerprinting as required by Hahira City Schools.
