Special Education Teacher – Hendricks Elementary School

Shelbyville Central Schools is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Hendricks Elementary School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students with special needs, providing individualized instruction and support to help them reach their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of… our students and their families. **Responsibilities:**
• Experience working with the social/emotional, behavioral, and educational aspects of students with special needs
• Participate in case conferences and assist in developing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for students
• Plan, implement, and deliver differentiated academic, social, and emotional instruction in a separate educational setting within a public school; embed SEL curriculum
• Develop and implement students’ IEPs and behavior intervention plans
• Plan for, coach, and collaborate with classroom Instructional Assistants and outside service providers
• Evaluate and maintain accurate records as required by administration and Article 7, including IEPs, student progress reports, academic and social growth reports, incident reports, attendance, etc. * Implement strategies to keep students and parents informed of academic and behavioral performance (weekly newsletters, consistent parent communication)
• Assist students and teaching staff in implementing students’ IEPs and behavior intervention plans when in the general education setting
• Participate in formal and informal functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans to support students throughout the school environment
• Develop data collection systems to track behavior and academic progress
• Collaborate with service providers, school personnel, and parent/guardians
• Maintain satisfactory attendance
• Comply with Corporation Bylaws, Policies, and Employee Handbook
• Model Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
• *Qualifications:**
• Valid teaching license from the State of Indiana
• Elementary licensure preferred
• Experience working with students with special needs
