Substitute Teacher

Job Description:

Reporting to the Principal of Collegiate High School, the substitute faculty member is an important part of our academic community. The primary role of this position is to provide the subject matter instruction and academic related activities designed to encourage, support and enable student success. Working closely with the Principal, the substitutes are issued a part-time… temporary term-to-term assignment. Interested candidates for all subject areas are welcome to apply to fill ongoing needs throughout the school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
• Adhere to all school safety laws and requirements and immediately report any known abnormalities to the administration.
• Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as lesson plans provided by the teacher of record or the administration.
• Prepare and submit timely grade and/or attendance reports and other reports on student performance and/or behavior as required. Required Skills: Job Location Code: Job Location:
• Manage classroom in a way that maintains order and an environment that is conducive to learning. Report any concerns to administration.

Required Skills:
• Knowledge of High School-level subject areas in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
• Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
• Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
• Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.

Required Education:

Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent).

Preferred Education:

Associate’s degree preferred.

Teaching experience is preferred.
