Camen Academy for the Performing Arts is seeking full-time Teaching Assistants for our 2024-2025 school year!

This is an excellent experience for anyone interested in growing in the field of exceptional education, psychology, behavior analysis, and other related fields.

Our school’s focus is to provide multiple modalities of learning through art, music, drama, and direct instruction. We encourage our students to explore their environment, gain confidence, and develop strong social connections with their peers. Our school works closely with ABA, SLP, and OT specialists to provide comprehensive and collaborative approaches to the child’s learning environment. Each classroom focuses on small group instruction with small class sizes.

Responsibilities for Teaching Assistant
• work one on one or in small groups with students in K-2, 3-5th, or 6-11th classrooms
• Assist teacher with creating supportive instructional materials for lessons
• oversee after-care program (*optional)
• oversee before-care program (*optional)
• utilize motivational and behavioral strategies to assist student with being successful with classroom participation
• oversee the safety of the students during recess and lunch periods
• assist with car line routine for arrival and dismissal
• collect data and academic progress regarding classroom behaviors and individualized academic goals
• communicate with teacher and behavioral team on a daily basis regarding student goals
• seek training on student individualized programs to assist student with increasing their communication, socialization, and independence
• provide written reports to parent regarding student’s day using our communication binder
• attend weekly meetings with teacher and planning team to review any special school projects or student concerns
• maintain a clean classroom by completing daily sanitization of classroom materials (i.e. desks, door handles, learning instruments)

Qualifications for Teaching Assistant
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• an interest in working with children with unique abilities
• ability to work as a team member
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and comfortable working independently
• must be punctual and able to maintain a set schedule
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including strong spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Must be committed to providing outstanding customer service and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• be able to be flexible and adapt to changes in the environment (student absences, changes in classroom routine, etc.)
• Must be able to pass a Federal Background check

Work Hours
• Monday to Friday
• Approximately 8:30a-4:30p (part time and full time positions)
• benefits available for full time positions
