Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and patient tutor from the Philippines to work with my 28-year-old brother, who has a disability, to develop his English, Math, STEM, life skills, and familiarity with essential digital tools. Our goal is to help him grow into a confident and independent individual, with the long-term aim of preparing him for a role as a receptionist and enabling… him to live independently.
About the Student:
Age: 28 years old
Location: Australia
Background: Australian-born with a disability
Current Skills: Can speak good English and perform basic math
Goal: Improve skills in English, Math, STEM, life skills, and digital tools, with a focus on becoming a receptionist and achieving independence.
What We Are Looking For:
A dedicated tutor who can provide personalized lessons in English language skills, basic to intermediate math, STEM concepts, and essential life skills, including those that foster independence.
Experience in teaching or mentoring individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Familiarity with digital tools such as Gmail Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Google Calendar, with the ability to teach these tools to the student.
Ability to guide him on tasks such as answering phone calls professionally, writing and constructing emails, managing schedules using Google Calendar, and other relevant administrative skills.
Someone who can offer consistent and encouraging feedback, ensuring a supportive learning environment that promotes both professional and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement a tailored lesson plan that addresses the student’s unique needs and learning pace.
– Conduct interactive and engaging lessons that cover a range of subjects, including English, Math, STEM, life skills, and digital tools.
– Teach practical communication skills, such as phone etiquette, email writing, and using essential digital tools like Gmail, Microsoft Office, Canva, and Google Calendar.
– Focus on life skills that promote independence, such as managing schedules, personal organization, and basic daily living tasks.
– Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary.
– Foster a positive and motivating atmosphere that encourages confidence, independence, and self-improvement.
Requirements:
– Proven experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring.
– Strong communication skills in English.
– Basic to intermediate knowledge of Gmail Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Google Calendar, and other online tools.
– A patient and understanding approach to teaching, especially with individuals with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with disabilities
Background in education, psychology, or a related field.
Knowledge in STEM education and life skills training.
Familiarity with additional online tools that can enhance the student’s learning experience.
