General Description
The Job Corps ESL Instructor will have a strong background in English language education and the ability to help participants improve their language proficiency and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Development: Refine ESL curriculum materials, lesson plans, and activities that align with language learning standards and participants’ needs.
• Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive English language lessons that focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
• Language Proficiency: Teach participants grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversational strategies to enhance their English language proficiency.
• Cultural Competence: Incorporate cultural awareness and sensitivity into lessons to promote effective communication in diverse environments.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments and language proficiency tests to measure participants’ progress, provide feedback, and tailor instruction accordingly. Serve CASAS testing coordinator.
• Individualized Support: Provide one-on-one guidance and support to participants, addressing their unique language learning needs and goals.
• Classroom Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and language development.
• Digital Tools: Integrate educational technology and online resources to enhance language learning and digital literacy skills.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with program staff, support services, and community resources to provide comprehensive language education and support.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), Linguistics, Education, or a related field
• TESOL certification or relevant teaching certification required.
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching English as a second language to diverse groups of learners.
• Strong understanding of language acquisition theories, teaching methodologies, and best practices for ESL instruction.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Passion for supporting language learners and helping them achieve their educational and career goals.
• Familiarity with educational technology and willingness to integrate it into teaching practices.
Salary: $60,000 – $66,000 Annually
