ESL Instructor – Remote | WFH

Position Overview

Are you passionate about teaching and dedicated to helping students succeed? We’re looking for an enthusiastic ESL Instructor to join our team and support students at the Beginning and Intermediate levels. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to ensure each student’s needs are met. Your responsibilities will include lesson… planning, maintaining detailed records of student performance, and providing valuable feedback on assignments. You’ll also handle student inquiries via email and phone, and develop engaging course outlines and syllabi.

Teaching will primarily occur in the mornings and afternoons, though there may be opportunities for evening and weekend classes in the future, depending on community needs. You’ll utilize a range of instructional methods, including synchronous, hybrid, and remote formats through platforms like Zoom. Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver engaging ESL lessons for Beginning and Intermediate students.

Maintain accurate records of student progress, including test results, attendance, and subject gains.

Provide constructive feedback on assignments and respond to student questions and concerns.

Develop and update course outlines and syllabi.

Collaborate with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to connect students with relevant opportunities.

Teach using various modalities such as in-person, hybrid, and remote.

Promote an inclusive environment and demonstrate commitment to diversity and equity.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in adult education or a related field from an accredited institution.

At least two years of experience teaching English Language Learners (ELLs).

Proficiency in MS Office, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems.

Strong communication skills and experience working with culturally diverse and at-risk populations.

Willingness to cross-train for other teaching roles within the GED/ESL program.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree in ESL/TESOL, adult education, or a related field.

Bilingual in Spanish or Somali.

Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) or willingness to obtain within three years.

Extensive experience teaching in various formats (in-person, hybrid, remote).

Proven commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Salary And Benefits

Salary range: $31.06 – $33.76 per hour, based on education, skills, and experience.

This position does not include a benefits package. Sick leave is provided in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.

No relocation assistance is available.

Selection Process

Candidates will be assessed based on their qualifications related to the position’s responsibilities. Finalists will be invited to an interview, which may require travel at their own expense.
