Academic Tutor to assist middle and high school students with English / Language Arts. Specifically with reading, reading comprehension, literature, grammar, writing development and styles of essay writing.
Tutor must have experience with successfully teaching English classes to middle or high school students. The emphasis should be to help students expand their understanding and skill in… various areas of language arts. Tutor must be well read (including being familiar with the classics and all types of literature), and love writing in various styles.
Tutor must have a reliable laptop or desktop computer with a functional webcam and microphone as well as good quality, reliable internet connection. A writing tablet (or graphics/drawing tablet) is highly recommended.
The rate of pay is $25.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
Meet with students online at regularly scheduled weekly meeting times to assist students with their school work, homework, prepare for tests or to clarify material that was covered in class or in a textbook. It is the tutor’s responsibility to help student understand the material being studied and acquire an increased level of understanding and competency.
Qualifications
BA or higher degree in English, Language Arts or related subject. Classroom teaching experience preferred but not a requirement. Previous tutoring experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must
